For everyone over 16 years of age, there is now the possibility to get vaccinated against COVID-19 quickly. This also applies to people who do not live in the city of Nuremberg, but are only staying here for the moment. Vaccinations at the vaccination center are now also possible without an appointment. Depending on the workload, you may have to wait a little.

WiSo sees good reasons to enter the new semester with great optimism. Against this backdrop, FAU WiSo is planning to largely return to face-to-face teaching for the winter semester 2021/2022, on-site at the Nuremberg City Campus, not on the Internet. This is because teaching, learning and research need direct exchange, personal encounters between students, and contact with lecturers.

At FAU, the approved and proven hygiene concept continues to apply, which, in addition to other components such as hand washing, ventilation, and contact tracking, basically stipulates that masks must…

From now on it is possible to return slowly to the lecture mode. Individual events can then also take place at WiSo on a voluntary basis in attendance. The respective lecturers will announce which courses will be held in attendance.

There are more than 70 Master’s degree programmes to choose from at FAU and you can now apply for a place in winter semester 2021/2022. Applications are also open for international students in all undergraduate degree programmes and programmes without admission restrictions.

The lecture period has begun and WiSo welcomes its students in the third digital semester #WiSoVirtuell. In addition, of course, the newly enrolled students in the 1st master semester. We wish everyone a good start into the virtual semester 2021!

The WiSo-Virtuellplus concept is planned at the faculty for the summer semester 2021. It aims to ensure that selected courses can be enriched with presence elements in parallel to digital content, which can be attended on a voluntary basis. By digitalizing all compulsory modules, the faculty is able to guarantee that it remains possible to study all study programs.

More than 10 days ago, the last WiSo exams took place at the Nuremberg Exhibition Centre in strict compliance with the hygiene guidance. The hygiene guidance was specified through extensive organizational measures, e.g. regulations on entry and exit, definition of responsibilities, higher personnel deployment, detailed schedules and training of the examination supervisors.

Since the end of the pandemic is not yet forecastable, the faculty is adjusting the organization of lectures. This is why the concept WiSo-Virtuell, which was developed as an answer to the corona crisis, has now been expanded to the concept WiSo-Virtuellplus.

On 15 February 2021, FAU officially started the examination period with a strict hygiene concept, which has already proven itself in the summer semester and in an adapted form during the attendance events in the winter semester. We would like to thank all students and staff for their exemplary adherence to the regulations and for making the examinations run smoothly.

Examinations at WiSo can take place in presence under strict conditions. Students are explicitly required to keep their distance before and after the examination and to wear their mask on the FAU premises as well as at other examination venues such as the trade fair. There is no obligation to wear an FFP2 mask.

FAU has published regulations concerning deviations from degree programme and examination regulations and the doctoral degree and habilitation regulations due to restrictions to teaching and examinations imposed as a result of the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2.

A Merry Christmas to you all and a good and, above all, healthy start to 2021.

From December 24, 2020 to January 6, 2021 inclusive, WiSo and FAU will take a Christmas break to save energy. The service facilities will be closed during this time. WiSo wishes its students, employees and guests happy holidays!

While we have to accept and cope with all the restrictions, we would like to point out that we can provide learning rooms for students without the possibility of studying at home or bridging attendance appointments at the university.

Instead of going to school for many students is homeschooling the reality. The pandemic has brought everyday university life into the living rooms of students. ZOOM makes it possible. FAU offers teachers and students a free license of this video conferencing tool. Each new tool always brings the same questions.
